Kimberly and Leroy Parker had been kids when the state had removed them from their crack-addicted mother and gave guardianship to Charlie, their mother’s stepbrother. Uncle Charlie was physically and mentally abusive and loved money but didn’t want to work for it. He kept control of Kimberly by threatening to put her mentally challenged brother, Lee, in a home. When Kim received her CNA, she went to work at Henry Ford’s Nursing Home -- a job she got through Uncle Charlie’s friend, Willis Cox. Uncle Charlie told her to marry one of the elderly men, so he could get their money. Kim met and married Wescott Hawthorne, a sixty-eight-year-old Native American/African man on her eighteenth birthday. He was unable to consummate their vows, but he made Kim promise to go to a sperm bank for his sperm and be impregnated; so his greedy nephew could not get his estate. Not long after, he died. After arranging for Wescott’s funeral, Uncle Charlie took Kim to the sperm bank. There they discovered that an incident had damaged many of the records, and Wescott’s sperm could not be found. Uncle Charlie was furious; the money was slipping through his hands. Three days later, Kim, deeply asleep, was yanked awake at 12:30am by Uncle Charlie, Willis Cox, and Uncle Charlie’s girlfriend, Sadie Hutchinson. They hustled her down to the basement, through a door, and into a new room. In the center of the room was a bed with a gorgeous naked man on it; a post at each corner held his handcuffed wrists and ankles, a leather belt held him to the bed, and his mouth was taped. Her Uncle told her to rape the man until she was pregnant; then he would dispose of him. After she was pregnant, they could claim Wescott’s estate. The man, Jaelen Gates, swore vengeance. Lee finally got her and Jaelen free, and they ran. Nine months after Lee and Kim disappeared, still hiding from Uncle Charlie, Kim gave birth. A year later Kim was contacted by the sperm bank and told Wescott’s sperm had been found. She was inseminated. When she was four months pregnant, a goon of Wescott’s nephew, Ainsley, attacked Kim. Now she hid from Ainsley as well as from Uncle Charlie. She again gave birth, this time to twins. Four years later Jaelen Gates, his father, and his friends, Lethal and Onyx Heart, owners of a security/detective agency, were in court for the trial of Charles Parker for kidnapping, rape, and conspiracy to commit murder. Willis Cox and Sadie Hutchinson were already in prison. A mature Kimberly was a witness for the prosecution after she’d been assured her children and brother were safe. Her Uncle was sent to prison; now all she needed worry about was Jaelen’s vengeance, Ainsley killing her for his uncle‘s money, and finding someone she could trust. Stealing Innocence is a roller-coaster ride. Just when you think the problems have been solved, up jumps another. If I have a compliant, it is that the proofreader should have been more careful. An interesting book! http://www.simegen.com/reviews/list/27893.html

I've seen this novel before, even read almost the first chapter, but I didn't continued before because I found it not interesting. But then things have changed. I just actually happened to bumped into it by accident. The title of the book rang a bell so I decided to read along. Besides, I read an interesting 'oreview' about it. I started reading Stealing Innocence two nights ago. My first reading ended yesterday morning, 04:59 o'clock. I continued reading it yester night then finally finished it at maybe thirty minutes past one this morning. This novel glued me to my seat. http://parasui.blogspirit.com/archive/2006/05/03/stealing-innocence.html#trackbacks

What a book that you just can't put down. I don't find those very often but this book is fast paced and keeps you wondering what can happen next to this character. I felt like I was sitting back and watching it on a movie screen and wanting for more when I was done reading. Thank you for writing such an heart tucking book that makes you want to protect the character. I hope that there are sequels to this book Sylvia.

I enjoyed reading "stealing innocence." It was a fast-paced story with many enjoyable twists and turns. Every time I thought that I knew what was going to happen, I was surprised again. Kimberly and Jaelen were two unforgettable characters with an unforgettable story to tell. This book was a combination of mystery and romance rolled into one. It read like a movie on the big screen. I mean the characters were all so real that I'm looking forward to reading the sequels to this novel. Thanks again, Sylvia, for sharing you incredible imagination with us. Keep it coming and we'll keep reading.

Kimberly and her 6'2", 250lb. younger brother Leroy are forced to live in a home that is headed by an uncle who is both abusive and criminal minded. She is the sensitive type and easily controlled by manipulation. Her Uncle's greed leads Kim down a dangerous path of deception and immoral behavior. His plan is to get his hands on her deceased, sixty-eight year old husband's fortune by any means necessary.
Jaelen is a large, angry and sexually restricted young man. He is mad at the world, but mostly he is mad at his millionaire father, who is controlling every aspect of his life. Only his childhood friend Onyx can bring a smile to Jaelen's face. Onyx is small woman, but she is as hard-hitting as a man and she proves it every day by running a security/detective agency.

Kim and Jaelen's paths meet when the love of money overrules all sense of decency and respect for the law. Will a forced sexual encounter between them make Kim and Jaelen reluctant parents?

My experience reading "Stealing Innocence I" was like sitting in a movie theater watching an academy award winning film! I was engaged right from the start of the book to the very end. The way Sylvia Hubbard revealed each character's part in the story was convincing and absorbing. She has a way of drawing the reader into the story, so that starting each new chapter feels like a reward in itself.

I highly recommend this book and feel confident that the other two books in the series "Stealing Innocence II: The Ravishment" and "Stealing Innocence III: Lethal Heart" are as gripping as this first book in the sequence.

There are two kinds of books. One is the kind I take to bed to read myself to sleep. The other kind I take to bed and read until I finish even if that's 4:00 o'clock in the morning. Stealing Innocence is one of the latter. Sylvia Hubbard draws you into every page of this story. Each character has a unique personality that stands up on the page and talks to you. As far as cliff hangers go, every page is a cliff hanger.

Kimberly is a young woman born of a drug addict mother and a father who left her and was later told his daughter was dead is raised by a despicable human beingUncle Charlie. Uncle Charlie regularly uses her for a punching bag, frequently breaking bones. When she is eighteen, money grubbing Uncle Charlie, forces Kimberly into a marriage with a man in his sixties who is wealthy with the intent that Kimberly give this man an heir to his fortune. When the man dies before a child is conceived, Uncle Charlie kidnaps a look-a-likeJaelenand forces Kimberly to rape the young man to produce a child so that Uncle Charlie can collect the inheritance...

This is a "must" read to find out why Jaelen is really angry with Kimberly, whether or not love really does prevail over evil, and whether what we are is always there on the inside waiting for the right person to bring it out.
