About
Mary Jones
I don’t believe in taking the direct path anywhere, usually preferring the scenic route. That’s why I studied Science subjects at school, took an Arts degree, taught Maths and got involved in theatre. My short stories have been published, read on radio, translated, and plagiarised. I’ve won competitions, but the pleasure of winning doesn’t come anywhere near the joy of hearing an audience laugh at a line I've written. In the three years that I've lived in Australia, I've written more poems than I did in the previous fifty – perhaps there’s something in the air. ‘Lines Dancing’ is my first poetry collection.
